Our parish family welcomes you to St. Cecilia’s and Queen of Heaven Catholic Churches!

Thanks for visiting St. Cecilia’s and Queen of Heaven’s home on the web. We hope you’ll bookmark our site and come back often. We post current and upcoming events right here on the Welcome Page to make it easy and convenient for you to know what’s going on. Over on the sidebar at the left, we’ve listed some excellent Catholic Blogs, and a few other favorite Catholic sites we have found helpful. Our goal is to make our parish website a helpful resource for you. It’s a continual work-in-progress. If you have some ideas for content or improvement, we’d love to hear from you.

We aim to model a faith community in which God’s unconditional love for his people, the church, is evident and His message of salvation is known.

 Ash-Wednesday burlap cross

“I turned to the Lord God, pleading in earnest prayer, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes.”

-Dan 9:3

People sometime fast as a way of asking God for what they need, or as a way of doing penance for their sins.

But, most deeply, fasting is a form of prayer- -prayer in action.

It helps to experience and express:

*My hunger for God

*My dependence on God (food ultimately comes from God)

*My weakness and frailty

*My willingness to change some of the patterns in my life.

Of course I hunger and thirst for God.

Of course I recognize my dependence on God.

Try some fasting and see if it makes “all that” more real.
